Solid Waste Regulations

California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) brings together the state’s recycling and waste management programs to move the state towards a circular economy that reduces waste and reuses all material. Through landmark initiatives such as the Integrated Waste Management Act (Assembly Bill 939) and its evolution through Assembly Bills 341 and1826 along with Senate Bill 1383, California works toward a society that uses less, recycles more, and takes resource conservation to a higher level.

As required by CalRecycle, the City has implemented these standards and regulations through adoption of Ordinance 1576 as reflected in the City’s Municipal Code, Chapter 8.28 – Solid Waste Collection and Disposal.
