City of Banning Hires Planning Veteran for Community Development Director

Patty Nevins, who was serving as the acting Community Development Director, has accepted the 

permanent position and brings over 20 years of experience in planning and project management. 

 

Banning, CA – The City of Banning is excited to announce that Patty Nevins has accepted the position of Community Development Director. Nevins has served as the acting Director since February 2017 and has been working in planning and project management for over two decades.   


“I am proud to have been selected to serve in this position,” said Nevins. “There are many exciting residential and commercial projects on the horizon for the Banning community and we have a great team that will help them through the development process.”       


Nevins was first hired by the City of Banning as a senior planner in 2016. Previously, Nevins served as an environmental project manager for Southern California Edison working on large-scale transmission projects. Prior to that she worked in planning for several cities including Palm Springs, Indio, and Desert Hot Springs. Nevins started her career as a planning technician in the City of Chula Vista.     


“We are thrilled that Patty took the job,” said Mayor George Moyer. “She has a tremendous understanding of land-use development and is well-respected by City staff. Our development projects are in good hands with her at the helm.” 


The Community Development Department is responsible for guiding the physical growth and development of the City. The department oversees several functions including economic development, planning, and building and safety.
